Fire & Fury battle

Well Ryan and myself met once again for an ACW challenge. This time not part of a campaign just a friendly, so to speak! As soon as the first shot is mustered i'm not sure its friendly :):).

We rolled the die to see what scenario we would be playing. "Sustained Attack" and it was Ryan's Union that would have to select one piece of terrain, defended by yours truly, to attack in order to gain the objective points.

The town is deserted as the Rebels (me) move out to defend the surrounding areas.

Union forces set up artillery across the river...

The federals then make their way through a woods and make an attack on the Rebels moving out of the town.

Lots of battle takes place and then the Union finally reaches its selected target... the near woods... defended heavily by a large force of Confederates.

Fighting was frantic and consistent, a number of assaults coming from the federal forces.
However, it was the Rebels that held strong and held their object, wiping a number of Union regiments from the Field.

The Confederates win this one!

Unlucky Ryan, Well done to Me! :)

Plastic Soldier Co. Panzer IV H

I recently purchased a box of Plastic Soldier Co. Panzer IV's.
I must say I enjoyed putting these together, found it easier compared to BF.
Here is one I have just finished.
Any comments are welcome, especially as many people tend to paint the camo in different ways :).

Looking forward to doing some more of these... platoons to the ready!
Thanks for visiting.

Introducing Wargaming

I have been introducing my younger ones, son and daughter, to wargaming over recent times. The eldest son reckons if its not 'Call of Duty' it just doesnt count.... The younger ones seem to enjoy, the lad likes his tanks and planes but is giving the others a chance :).

We have been playing ACW Fire & Fury of late but on a very low scale of number of bases, say 1 brigade, so that they get the feel of things. This time round I played against my daughter, whilst visiting my mother. Her dining table came in quite handy!

Darcie's Union forces march towards the objective farmhouse!
... and push on...

It's time for my Rebels to get into line and face the oncoming feds!

The fight is now on... and combat after combat took place.
The die did not go for me - 1 after 2 after 1 - the norm these days. Darcie however hit those five a sixes to push the rebels back, who eventually skeddadled and 'quit the field'.

I had been beaten by my 8-year old daughter!
She immediately ran to her nan, who rewarded her with some chocolate... nothing for the loser!

A good time was had, I look forward to the next encounter.

Welcome

Well, where do you start with this? I suppose I got into wargaming when I was very young, playing with Airfix Kits.
I have always had a fascination for Military History and my two favourite periods are World War II and the American Civil War.

I hope you enjoy my blog and the things I post, any comments are always welcome!
Happy Blogging
Mike
